Romancing a Demon...Really?

I'm not a huge fan of the current romances featuring vampires, werewolves, zombies, etc. (although I loved the Twilight series and I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books).  But I simply can't wrap my mind around romances featuring demons!  Maybe it's my Catholic upbringing...

What I did on my three-day weekend

Friday morning - Holiday party at work.  Merry Christmas! Home to decorate and put Christmas tree up.
Friday afternoon - Husband calls. Must drive to Springfield where mother-in-law with Alzheimer's is critically ill.
Friday evening -Arrive at nursing home.  Mother-in-law is resting peacefully. Had stomach "flu" earlier in day and passed out.
Saturday morning - Drive back to Springfield. Mother-in-law is fine; up and around. Does not know us anymore, though. Drive home with despondent husband whose mother doesn't recognize him
Saturday night - Husband becomes extremely ill with same stomach bug that his mother had. No one sleeps.
Sunday morning - Call 911 because husband can't breathe and he feels as if an elephant is standing on his chest. Spend day in emergency room with husband. They keep him overnight for tests.
Sunday afternoon - Son calls.  He is driving from Michigan to Columbus in extremely bad weather. Normally 2 1/2 hour trip takes 4 1/2 hours.
Monday morning - Get up at 4:30 am to take son to airport. Roads in very icy condition. Go back home and back to bed.
Later Monday morning - Go to hospital and pick up husband.  Everything is fine.  No heart involvement.
Monday afternoon - Finally start to decorate house for Christmas.  Still no tree, though.

I'm tired.  Time for a shower and bed.  Only 12 shopping days until Christmas...

A Conundrum

I love to read books. I used to CRAVE having time to read, especially when my children were smaller. I learned to give the appearance of listening to my husband and children while surreptitiously turning the pages of my book, engrossed in the story (that was not always a wise choice... Child: "Mom, remember I am having a sleepover party tomorrow with ten of my friends." Me: "What?! I didn't say you could have a sleepover!"  Child: "I asked you last week if it was ok and you said yes." Me: "Was I reading a book at the time?" Child: "Yes.")
Then, I learned to use a computer and the Internet and then I discovered LibraryThing and Good Reads and Shelfari.  WOW!  A place where I could catalog my books and talk about them and get more ideas about books.  And NOW...I have a blog!  A book blog.  A place that I created myself where I can review books and talk about books and see what others are reading and challenge myself to read more.
The problem? I don't have time to read!  It's 2:41 am.  I've been on the computer for about 3 hours writing reviews, checking out Facebook and other blogs and now it's time for bed (actually, it was time for bed about 3 hours ago). And I haven't read one word since I got home from work!
A conundrum!

I'm a Pop Culture Junkie

Even though I'm a reference librarian in an academic library, I still love to keep up with what's going on in the world of entertainers and celebrities.  Some of my more "literary" friends look down on my obsession, but as far as I'm concerned, it's their loss!  Here are some of my favorite stories this week:

Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married!  She's so gorgeous.  I'm rooting for the happily-ever-after, fairly tale ending!

Eva Longoria-Parker and Tony Parker are getting divorced.  So much for "happy-ever-after.

Really???? Brandy is voted off of Dancing with the Stars?  What's up with that?

Sigh...

It seems I'm spending way more time trying to come up with a design I like and learning how to work with the blogger "gadgets" and stuff, than I am actually writing anything on my blog. I think it's the perfectionist in me...everything has to be just right.

If you follow my blog at all, you will notice that it has an entirely new look tonight than it did yesterday. I like the water image; it seems to soothe me and make me sleepy, which is a good thing, because I have a terrible time going to sleep at night.

Speaking of...it's almost 3:00 am, so I guess I'd better turn off the computer and get to bed. Sweet dreams.
